Snowman the Cat's Hats — Free to a good home

Cathat2

The most poignant thing I've come across in quite some time.

From a Craiglist posting out of San Diego, California:
...................

Carton of Irregular Cat Hats

Hello.

I have a big box of used cat and kitten hats that I have collected over the years for various occasions.

As of recently my cat, Snowman, is no longer living and thus I am forced to get rid of these precious memories.

I would not feel right asking money for them so I am offering the whole box for free.

There are many styles from formal to cute and funny.

Cathat3

There is a variety of 14 different hats total [three are pictured above and below].

I just hope you and your pet can find as much joy in these hats as me and Snowman once did.

E-mail me if you are interested and I will give you my address where you can pick them up.

I can also arrange for a free delivery if you are not too far away.

Thank you,

Patty

Is it just me or does snowman look like he is not enjoying the hat thing at ALL?

Hey...I do believe these are the prop costumes for Cat Town, which you'll find at:

This is a really silly soap opera of the goings on in Cat Town, complete with the Little Redhaired Cat (who wears the ringlets-and-bandanna combo you've got pictured). Great fun with children or when it's reeeeaaaally late and you're getting punchy.

Now that I think about it -- I had a little afrowig for one of my cats years ago. My cat -- Zimbobwe (Bob -- yeah I know the real spelling...but it didn't work out with the nick) -- I called him this because he acted like a little jungle can and after a while I was obsessed with getting back to his roots. Took an afrowig I had and cut it up and gaffer taped it to his head.

I think that was the last time the lil' guy trusted me! Taking away his dignity and stuff....

But I agree -- I wouldn't get rid of memories. We are so worried about life and death and it is a natural part of life. It s*cks that most of our pets live much shorter lives than we do, but then again, we all only live just long enough to figure it out. Working with a kid with cancer a few years back -- she was one of the most wise people I knew. I made sure not to know if she died...but I'm certain she did. Animals...much wiser than people, hence the shorter life time.

Anyhoo...I've lost a few pets over my short life, and I'll probably lose a few more. I'll be sad but I realize this is a part of life. I have great memories of all my animals. I wouldn't want to give up anything that reminded me of them...

No doubt, my two beasts would shred me head to toe if I tried anything like that.

Snowman looks like he kind of enjoyed wearing the hats, though. Or at least, he didn't mind it. I'm not much into cats wearing clothes, but he was pretty damn cute, I must admit. I think she should keep the hats. When the grief over losing Snowman lessens a little, they would make good memories of him. Every time one of mine has died I've always felt the urge to get rid of all reminders, but eventually, I'm always glad I kept them.

Cats with hats reminds me of a time (oh God, here we go again) back in aught six... I knew someone who had a black cat named Shaft. And a white one named -- guess what? Yeah -- Honky. I always wanted to get hold of old Shaft and put a little tiny Afro on his head. I can just imagine the Christmas newsletter: "We are all fine; the children have been rehearsing for their nativity pageants, and Shaft and Honky beat hell out of each other several times a day. It's never dull!"

I do believe my cats would scratch my eyes out if I attempted to put something like this on their head.

Then again, this may be because of the aluminum foil I use to wrap around their paws when they were little.
