BehindTheMedspeak: Death by Botox — Episode 2: Wall Street Journal and Financial Times bury the lede (as it were)
Actually, they completely missed the main event.
Witness the graphic up top, published here on January 28, 2008 in Episode 1 of this series.
If I do the math correctly, 11 of the 16 people who died after receiving botulinum toxin were adults.
Yet today's Wall Street Journal article about yesterday's FDA announcement that it's reviewing the safety of Botox because of reports of deaths and breathing difficulties following administration of the drug stated, "... all of the deaths... were in pediatric patients."
And in today's Financial Times story we read, "No adults had died...."
Who you gonna believe?
Me, or your lying eyes?
Hard to see how you could go wrong selling Allergan short.
More often than not, once a rock like this is lifted, all sorts of nastiness emerges.
And no, I don't take a commission.
I'm just saying, is all.
The smart money, of course, went in after the January 28, 2008 post and has already left the building.

Comments
I have read posts on other sites from women whose children suffering from cerebral palsy find relief in Botox. Now they have to decide if the small numbers of children dying from Botox are enough to stop using it and allow their children to suffer the spasms of CP.
A choice I am grateful I don't have, and don't envy them.

One note - I realize that muscle spasticity may be a mild tic or something far worse... I just want to know if any of the BOTOX TX are approved for anything but cosmetic procedures?

Oh come on - this is the chlorine the gene pool needs. (Is there a therapeutic use for Botulinus Toxin? I stand by my snide remark if all of these are the result of treating vanity.)
