Procrustean Bacon Bed

P34839b

One size fits all, isn't that what
Procrustean
means in English?

From the website:

    Bacon Wave™

Freshly cooked bacon, sizzled to perfection in your microwave!

Bacon Wave gives bacon frying pan taste without the fat and calories.

    Strips won't shrink or curl.

Makes up to 14 slices in 14 minutes.

    Plastic unit is dishwasher safe.

    8.75" x 8".

What's up with that "Makes up to 14 slices in 14 minutes?"

These people must like activated charcoal 'cause I give my bacon (more than 14 slices at a time, by the way) three minutes MAX in the microwave.

Mario Batali says the taste and mouthfeel of the fat is what it's all about and I'm with Molto Mario all the way on this one.

$10.99 here (bacon not included).

Nueske's (below)

3vv0

is the best bacon money can buy in the U.S.

Eric Ripert, among others, says so and that's good enough for moi.

Whole Foods carries it but if you're in some Podunk town and want to try some you can order it ($19.95/2 lbs.) here.

I just remembered the story of Procrustes in Hades....and the hacking off of body parts to fit a bed. So, the holder is adjustable. And you must put bacon in this device that are all the same length.

My Irish (FBI as in foreign-born Irisher) grandmother called bacon "rashers," and preferred the thick cut.
